#SEEDING THE FUTURE – THE MAECI AT THE 47th EDITION OF THE RIMINI MEETING
INTERNATIONAL PAVILION C3
For the eighth consecutive year, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) will be present at the Meeting for Friendship Among Peoples with a large exhibition space entitled “SEEDING THE FUTURE”. The pavilion is a journey through Italy’s strategic priorities and commitment in the areas of food security and sustainable agriculture, environmental sustainability, and international cooperation.
The MAECI Space places the relationship between humankind and nature at the center as a concrete space for development cooperation and peer partnership, offering a reflection on the role of agri-food supply chains as important spaces for dialogue, development, and growth for territories, communities, and partner countries. Particular attention will be paid to the major projects of Italian Cooperation to strengthen agri-food systems and the coffee and cocoa supply chains in Africa, also in partnership with the Italian private sector.
The exhibition space is developed as an experiential and immersive journey designed to engage young people and families. The symbolic and narrative heart of the Pavilion is the themed greenhouse, dedicated to cocoa and coffee plants, which will tell the story of production chains as complex and interdependent processes in which the environment, labor, local knowledge, and international relations contribute to sustainable growth. The greenhouse thus becomes a metaphor for a place where life does not grow spontaneously, but is tended, protected, and accompanied. Through light, water, climatic balance, and shared responsibility, the greenhouse makes visible the interdependence between natural and human elements, showing how sustainable development is the result of continuous and collaborative effort.
The MAECI Pavilion will also host a FAO space, a key partner of Italian Cooperation with initiatives for environmental sustainability and food security.
Also present in the international pavilion is a talk area to host debates and events organized both by the MAECI and by national and international partners, a spherical installation with multimedia content telling some Italian Cooperation and partner projects carried out around the world, and the presentation of a selection of artworks from the Farnesina Collection.
The MAECI’s participation in the Rimini Meeting 2026 also confirms the collaboration with the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation/AICS and CIHEAM Bari.
