Who we are
INVESTING IN EVERYONE’S TALENT
Alessandra Locatelli, Minister for Disabilities; Laura Lucchin and Amerigo Basso, parents of Sammy Basso. Moderated by Mattia Ferraresi, journalist, Domani
Disability is not a limit to overcome, but a foundation on which to build authentic communities. To recognize this, however, a radical shift in perspective is needed: seeing potential rather than just limits, moving from mere assistance to truly valuing the individual, and investing in the talents and skills of each person to foster growth for all. The Basso family’s story shows that even in the most fragile conditions, spaces of meaning can emerge—spaces that generate beauty, culture, and social participation. As Sammy used to say, “Life is not measured by the number of days you live, but by how you live them.”
