Lupi Maurizio

Born on October 3, 1959, he lives in Milan with his wife Manuela, with whom he has three children: Andrea, Luca, and Federica.
Graduated in Political Science at the Catholic University of Milan, he began his social and political adventure during his university years.
After graduating, he began working first as a personal assistant to the CEO of the weekly magazine “Il Sabato”, then becoming Marketing and Advertising Director, then as head of the press office and PR director of Fiera Milano, before being appointed CEO of Fiera Milano Congressi in 1994, a position he held until 2013. He is currently a manager on leave of absence at Fiera Milano.
His first election in a public institution was in 1993, when he was elected to the City Council of Milan, where he was vice president and president of the Urban Planning commission. In 1997 he was re-elected and became municipal councilor for Territorial Development, Private Building and Urban Furnishings in the first Albertini administration. These are the years in which he developed a specific expertise in the field of public works and urban planning, which continued during his parliamentary activity.
He entered the Chamber of Deputies on 13 May 2001 and in his first legislature he held the role of group leader of Forza Italia in the VIII Commission (Environment, territory and public works) and National Head of the Department of Public Works and Territory Forza Italia.
Re-elected four times, in November 2013 with Angelino Alfano and other parliamentarians he created the New Centre-Right from which, after four years, Alternativa popolare was born, a political aggregation of Italian moderates that rejects and fights the populist and Le Penist drift into which the Italian centre-right has slipped.
He was Vice President of the Chamber of Deputies in the XVI legislature from 2008 to 2013 and served as Minister of Infrastructure and Transport in the governments from 2013 to 2015.
He was President of the deputies of Alternativa Popolare from 2015 to 2018.
In the 2018 political elections he was re-elected to the Chamber of Deputies (in the Noi con l’Italia – UDC quota again the constituency of Merate) and is currently President of the Parliamentary Intergroup for Subsidiarity, which he founded in 2003 and of which he is the promoter and animator.

On 5 August 2022 the agreement between Noi con l’Italia and Giovanni Toti’s Italia al Centro for a single symbol was made official. On 11 August, at a press conference in Montecitorio, Lupi, Toti, Luigi Brugnaro and Lorenzo Cesa, in view of the political elections of 25 September, presented the united list Noi moderateti with the federated symbols of Italia al Centro, Noi con l’Italia, Coraggio Italia and Unione di Centro.[55] Lupi was indicated as the political leader of the list.[56][57]

Lupi was nominated for the Chamber as the leader of Noi moderateti in the multi-member constituency Friuli Venezia Giulia – 01 and, with the support of the entire centre-right coalition, in the single-member constituency Lombardia 2 – 05 (Lecco), where he was elected with 54.80% of the votes, beating Laura Bartesaghi of the centre-left (24.28%) and Stefano Motta of Azione – Italia Viva (10.33%).[58] Lupi was vice-president of the mixed group in the 19th legislature until 27 October when he became president of the new group Noi moderateti – MAIE.
