Organised by Medicina e Persona

Elio Borgonovi, Professor of Economics and Management of Public Administrations, Università Bocconi; Nicola D’Erario, Director of Labour and Skills at Farmindustria; Alberto Felice De Toni, Professor of Industrial Engineering and Management, Università di Udine and mayor of Udine; Marco Trivelli, General Director of ASST Lecco. Moderated by Giorgio Bordin, President of Medicina e Persona

Health systems are complex and not simply complicated. The practical consequences involve all the actors in the system: those who govern, those who provide care, and those who are cared for. A dominant rationalistic mindset considers complexity as an obstacle to be eliminated with organizational tightening that produces inefficiency, disengagement, and dissatisfaction. Complexity, on the contrary, is the expression of the irreducible freedom of Being that «moves the sun and the other stars». Only a reason open to betting on it can reverse the course of a process that seems unstoppable. But who will bear responsibility for this change?
