Who we are
FUORI DAI MARGINI
Documentary by Save the Children
Introduction by Daniela Fatarella, Director of Save the Children Italy and Giampiero Vietto, Global Head of Kinder “Joy of Moving” Social Responsibility Project
There are many kinds of barriers: physical ones, dividing city centers from their outskirts; cultural ones, obstructing equality; and social and economic ones, often stifling dreams. “Beyond the Margins” is a documentary that tells the stories of Nicole, Alessandro, Samuel, Natasha, and Alim—some of the 55,000 children and adolescents that Save the Children has supported in their growth over the past 10 years. Since 2014, when Save the Children first raised the alarm about educational poverty in Italy, the organization has been working to combat it by creating “Punti Luce” (Points of Light)—educational centers located in disadvantaged areas where children and teenagers can access free learning and developmental opportunities. These are places where young people can learn, experiment, and let their skills and talents flourish—opportunities through which, day by day, they are rewriting the future of their neighborhoods.
