The cost of energy has become the central issue of European competitiveness. Geopolitical shocks have highlighted the fragility of the current model and widened the gap with the United States and China. In this scenario, the energy transition is not only an environmental challenge, but also an industrial and strategic one. However, without a common policy that can balance decarbonization, autonomy and competitiveness, and reduce dependence on critical raw materials, Europe risks replacing old vulnerabilities with new ones and compromising the future of its industry.
