A PEOPLE AT WORK TO SAFEGUARD HOPE. Common good and subsidiarity in our time

Organized by Centri di Solidarietà

Francesco Botturi, former Professor of Moral Philosophy, Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, in dialogue with Carlo Tellarini, Fondazione Enrico Zanotti

Politics, understood as governance for the common good, is today facing an unprecedented crisis because its very foundation is being questioned: the existence of political power capable of governing the force of technological-technocratic systems. To invoke the idea of community in this context is not a nostalgic return to a romantic culture. Identity and community relations constitute something different and irreducible — a place where the human finds a home and produces real effects. Humanity generates its own culture and makes history, capable of surviving even the worst voids and regimes. As MacIntyre affirms, the point is to live in real communities that do not “stand aside,” but rather fully “play their part.”
