On Wednesday, March 18, the exhibition “Called Twice. The Martyrs of Algeria” was presented to Pope Leo XIV, who will travel to Algeria on April 13.

Present were Father Thomas Georgeon, postulator of the beatification cause; Cardinal Jean Paul Vesco, Archbishop of Algiers; Marie-Dominique Minassian, who leads the project for the publication of the writings of the monks of Tibhirine; the Dominican Jean-Jacques Pérennès, biographer of Pierre Claverie; Lorenzo Fazzini, editorial director of the Libreria Editrice Vaticana; and Alessandro Banfi, director of Communications of the Oasis Foundation.

In the message sent on the occasion of the 46th edition of the Meeting of Rimini last August, Pope Leo wrote about the Blessed of Algeria: «In them shines the vocation of the Church to dwell in the desert in profound communion with all humanity, overcoming the walls of mistrust that set religions and cultures against one another, in full imitation of the movement of incarnation and self-giving of the Son of God. This path of presence and simplicity, of knowledge and of “dialogue of life,” is the true way of mission. Not self-display in the opposition of identities, but the gift of self, even to martyrdom, of those who adore Jesus alone as Lord day and night, in joy and amid tribulations».
