Simoncini Andrea

Andrea Simoncini is Full Professor of Constitutional Law and Director of the Department of Legal Sciences at the Università degli Studi di Firenze. He has taught at several Italian and international universities, establishing himself as a leading scholar in contemporary constitutional law.
He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Firenze and of the Council of the Opera di Santa Maria del Fiore. He serves on the Scientific Committee of the Fondazione SERICS (Security and Rights in the Cyberspace) and is Principal Investigator of the Spoke “Law and Regulation for a Better-Safe Cyberspace” (CYBERIGHTS). He is also Scientific Coordinator of research projects at the University of Florence on cybersecurity and artificial intelligence in public administration, as well as initiatives related to the development of the 5G and Innovative Technologies Competence Center.
His scholarly work focuses particularly on constitutional freedoms, new technologies, and bioethics, with attention to the institutional, historical, and cultural implications of law. Among his recent publications are the volume Dialogues in Italian Constitutional Justice (Routledge), the Breviario giuridico della cybersicurezza (Edizioni CNR, 2025), edited with Marina Pietrangelo, and the essay AI Act e digital constitutionalism (BioLaw Journal, 2025). He also co-authored with Samir Suweis the article The Artificial Intelligence Paradigm Shift and Its Impact on Constitutional Law, devoted to the impact of big data and AI on constitutional rights.
He is President of the Scientific Committee of the Master’s program “Eunomia – Democracy: Renaissance,” an academic initiative dedicated to the study of constitutional democracy in the contemporary context.
