Massimo Garavaglia

Massimo Garavaglia is a Senator of the Italian Republic and Chair of the Senate’s 6th Finance and Treasury Committee. Born in Cuggiono (Milan) on 8 April 1968, he holds a degree in Economics and Business from Bocconi University and a degree in Political Science from the University of Milan. A business consultant specialising in management control, quality and information systems, he served as Mayor of Marcallo con Casone from 1999 to 2009.
In 2006, he was elected to the Chamber of Deputies, where he held positions on the Social Affairs Committee and the Budget Committee. In 2008, he was elected to the Senate, becoming Vice-Chair of the Budget Committee. From 2013 to 2018, he served as Regional Councillor for the Economy, Growth and Simplification for the Lombardy Region.
Re-elected to the Chamber of Deputies in 2018, he served as Undersecretary and then Deputy Minister for the Economy and Finance in the Conte government. From 2021 to 2022, he served as Minister for Tourism in the Draghi government. In 2022, he was re-elected to the Senate, where, in the 19th Legislature, he chairs the Finance and Treasury Committee, focusing in particular on economic policy, public finance and tax matters.
