Maria Laura Conte

Director of Communications and Advocacy at the AVSI Foundation

Graduate in Classical Literature, she holds a PhD in the Sociology of Communication and is a professional journalist. Following various roles in journalism (radio, print media, press office, spokesperson’s office), she became Editorial and Communications Director at the Oasis International Foundation in November 2011, a position she held until August 2015.

Since September 2015, she has been Director of Communications at the AVSI Foundation. She is the author of the books *Where Indonesia Looks: Christians and Muslims in the Land of Smiles (Venice 2006, Capri-San Michele Prize 2007) and *Journalism for Living Men* (Padua 2014). She received the 2004 Basso Journalism Prize and an honourable mention in the 2006–2007 Vesce Prize for Quality of Information.
