Sortino Alessandro

Alessandro Sortino, born in Rome on December 14, 1969, is an Italian journalist, television author, and radio host known for his incisive style and investigative approach. The son of Sebastiano Sortino, former Director General of the Italian Federation of Newspaper Publishers, he began studying law but left university just a few exams short of graduation.
His journalistic career began in 1995 with contributions to the weekly Vita and the daily La Repubblica. In 1998, he joined Radio Capital as an editor, where he stood out for his ability to address social issues with both depth and irony.
From 2000 to 2008, Sortino was a field reporter for the television program Le Iene, where he gained popularity for his bold and provocative reports. After a segment on politician Clemente Mastella was not aired, he left the show and continued his career working on programs such as Matrix, Exit – Uscita di sicurezza, Presa Diretta, and Piazzapulita.
In 2014, he became Deputy Director and Creative Director of TV2000, the Italian Bishops’ television network. In 2016, he created the talk show Nemo – Nessuno escluso, which aired on Rai 2 until 2018. In 2019, he launched Popolo Sovrano, another current affairs program for Rai 2.
In 2024, Sortino returned to Le Iene as a field reporter, demonstrating his continued professional evolution. His life has been deeply shaped by his Catholic faith, which he embraced at the age of 18 after reading the Gospel. He has been married to Cecilia since 2001 and is the father of two children.
Throughout his career, Sortino has received several accolades, including the Ilaria Alpi Television Journalism Award in both 2007 and 2012.
