Sommacal Luca

Luca Sommacal is married to Gabriella and is father of two children. A finance professional, he has been President of the Associazione Famiglie per l’Accoglienza since 2019, an organization he became involved with through his personal experience with adoption and family hosting.
Founded in Milan in 1982, the Association is now active across several Italian regions and in various countries worldwide. It forms a network of families supporting one another in welcoming experiences — adoption, foster care, hosting, and care of the elderly and people with disabilities — promoting it as a value for both the individual and society. A distinctive feature of the Association is the active and leading role of families, recognized socially and institutionally. Its method is based on mutual support, exchange of experiences, and lasting companionship among families.
Under his leadership, the Association has promoted welcoming initiatives for minors and families from Ukraine, involving numerous Italian households in practical solidarity. In 2024, it concluded the international seminar Accoglienza, strada di speranza in Peschiera del Garda, highlighting the value of family-based hospitality as a symbol of hope for society.
He is also the author of articles and interventions on social issues and family foster care, published online in the newspaper Il Sussidiario.
