Pugliese Raffaele

Raffaele Pugliese graduated from the University of Milan in 1971, and from 1972 to 1975 he worked at the Provincial Hospital of Kitgum in Uganda for a project for the Italian Ministry of Health.
In 1975, he assumed the position of Assistant in the General Surgery Division of the Hospital of Cittiglio (VA) and from 1976 to 1993 at the A.O. Hospital Niguarda Ca’Granda as Assistant surgeon.
From 1993 to 1998, he held the role of Head Physician at the University Hospital of General Surgery at the Hospital of Busto Arsizio (VA).
Since 1998 he has served as the Director of Structure of General Oncological and Minimally-Invasive Surgery at the A.O. Hospital Niguarda Ca’Granda and since 2004 as the Director of the Multi-specialist Surgical Department.
His operating activities have included more than 10,000 major surgeries.
He completed his specialization in general Surgery in Padua in 1977 and Vascular Surgery in Milan in 1989.
In 2005, as the chair for the Lombardia Region, he initiated experimental procedures using robots for minimally-Invasive surgeries.
He is also a professor at the School of Specialization of General Surgery in Milan.
Pugliese has numerous scientific publications and has participated in many international congresses.
He has promoted 15 Surgery Congresses, participated in international meetings on Surgical operations, organized 8 courses in “A Practical introduction to Laparoscopic Surgery of the Colon and Stomach,” 4 courses on “A Practical Introduction to the Laparoscopic Surgery for Hernias,” a course on “Basic Medical Writing,” 2 workshops for Transluminal Surgery, and 2 courses in Endocrine Surgery.
Since 2008, Pugliese has served as the President of the Foundation MIAS (Minimal Invasive Advanced Surgery Academy) and the President of the AIMS ACADEMY, a center for multidisciplinary education currently in Italy, born from the scope of new, innovative and minimally-invasive surgical technology and the professional education of doctors and surgeons, specialists and graduates of various surgical disciplines, using education models to implement and evaluate surgical abilities, using a virtual model through inanimate or animal models. At AIMS, over 20 courses are organized each year in various specialized disciplines.
