Proietti Stefania

Stefania Proietti  is an engineer, university professor, and Italian politician. Since December 2, 2024, she has been President of the Umbria Region, elected with 51.13% of the vote in a center-left and M5S coalition.

She graduated in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Perugia, earned a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering (2004), and a Master’s in Energy Systems Management (2003). She is an associate professor at Guglielmo Marconi University and active in research on sustainability, energy efficiency, and renewables, with over 50 publications and patents.

She served as Mayor of Assisi (June 21, 2016 – December 2, 2024) and President of the Province of Perugia (December 20, 2021 – December 2024).

Since 2021, she has been president of ONE (One Network for Environment), the first environmental spin-off network of the University of Perugia, and vice president of the Sorella Natura Foundation.

Active in energy and climate matters, she has represented Italy at UN conferences since 2006.

She is married, mother of two, and a member of the Party of European Socialists in the European Committee of the Regions.
