Poggi Anna Maria

Anna Maria Poggi is a prominent figure in the field of Italian constitutional law. Born in Ciciliano, in the province of Rome, on June 30, 1959, she is a Full Professor of Constitutional Law at the University of Turin, where she holds the chair in Constitutional Law and Regional Constitutional Law.
Her main research interests include fundamental rights, the welfare state, regionalism and autonomy, and the judiciary. Among her numerous publications are I diritti delle persone. Lo Stato sociale come Repubblica dei diritti e dei doveri (Milan, 2014), Per un «diverso» Stato sociale. La parabola del diritto all’istruzione (Bologna, 2019), and Oltre la globalizzazione. Il bisogno di uguaglianza (Modena, 2020). She is also the Director of the journal Federalismi.it.
Her academic career began in 1992 as a confirmed Researcher in Italian and Comparative Constitutional Law, later becoming Associate Professor in 1998 and Full Professor in 2002. She has held significant roles at the University of Turin, including Dean of the Faculty of Education Sciences (2003–2009) and Vice-Rector (2007–2012), with responsibilities for revitalizing and developing the university library system, as well as managing and coordinating institutional relations and partnerships with local entities.
Anna Maria Poggi has participated in numerous local and national research projects, sometimes as coordinator. She is a member of the scientific committees of several academic journals, including Quaderni Regionali, Rassegna di diritto pubblico europeo, Diritto pubblico, Federalismi, Estudios sobre Educación, and Revista semestral del Departamento de Educación, Universidad de Navarra.
Outside academia, she has held important roles: member of the management committee of Compagnia San Paolo, representative of the State-Regions Conference in the ministerial commission for drafting the Cultural Heritage Code (2004), and President of the Fondazione per la Scuola della Compagnia di San Paolo since 2009. She also served as Secretary of the Board of the Italian Constitutionalists Association (AIC) from 2009 to 2012.
