Who we are
Plessi Giancarlo

Born in Castel San Giovanni, in the province of Piacenza, on April 19, 1957, not far from the Po River and fully immersed in the fogs of the Po Valley. At the age of nine, he met an extraordinary priest who guided him with passion in his priestly vocation until he entered the Seminary of Piacenza in October 1969, at just twelve years old.
Only a few months later, Providence sent him the new Bishop, the great Enrico Manfredini, who would accompany his faith journey until his ordination as a priest on March 25, 1983, at the start of the Holy Year of Redemption.
The event that most marked his life and completely changed the way he views reality was his encounter with many young members of Communion and Liberation on Palm Sunday 1975 in St. Peter’s Square. There, first with Pope Paul VI and then with Don Luigi Giussani, he realized he was part of a people he could never abandon and who would never abandon him.
Today, he has just celebrated his first thirty-eight years of priesthood, always serving the numerous parish communities entrusted to him, and in particular overseeing youth pastoral work in this beautiful valley where he has been for twenty years.
A happy priest, captivated by the love of Christ, always ready to announce to everyone that the Word became flesh and lives among us. He is now the parish priest of Besenzone in the Diocese of Piacenza-Bobbio.
