Giancarlo Plessi

Giancarlo plessi, born in Castel San Giovanni, in the province of Piacenza, on 19 April 1957, at the age of nine he met a priest who accompanied him in discovering his vocation to the priesthood, leading to his entry into the Seminary of Piacenza in October 1969, when he was just twelve years old. Shortly thereafter, the new Bishop, Enrico Manfredini, guided his path of formation until his priestly ordination on 25 March 1983, at the beginning of the Holy Year of the Redemption.
The most significant moment of his spiritual life was his encounter with young people from Comunione e Liberazione on Palm Sunday 1975 in St Peter’s Square, where, together with Papa Paolo VI and don Luigi Giussani, he came to understand that he belonged to a community of faith that would accompany him throughout his life.

Don Giancarlo served as parish priest in Agazzano and in about ten small parishes in the Val Luretta, receiving warm welcomes from the faithful and taking part in the installation ceremony presided over by Bishop Adriano Cevolotto. He also led the parishes of San Martino in Olza, Mercore and Bersano in the area surrounding Besenzone.
In 2024, he celebrated his first 41 years of priesthood in the parish of Besenzone, where he is affectionately known as “Plexi” and has distinguished himself for his dedication to young people through parish and oratory activities.

He has participated as a speaker at the Meeting per l’amicizia fra i popoli (Rimini Meeting), delivering talks inspired by the stories of Don Camillo and the teachings of Giovannino Guareschi, within events coordinated by the Gruppo Amici di Giovannino Guareschi.
He is currently parish priest of Besenzone in the Diocese of Piacenza-Bobbio, continuing to devote himself with passion to youth ministry and to guiding the communities entrusted to him.
