Fabrizio Piccarolo

Fabrizio Piccarolo is a director of the Fondazione Lombardia per l’Ambiente, he holds a degree in Political Science from the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore and has extensive managerial experience in public administration. Since 2007, he has led the Foundation, overseeing its strategic and operational planning, institutional relations with public authorities, research institutes, and private partners, as well as administrative, legal, and human resources management.
An expert in institutional relations and project management, he coordinates complex environmental projects at both national and international levels. Representing the Foundation, he participated as a speaker at COP16 on Biodiversity in Cali (Colombia), contributing to international discussions on the implementation of the Global Biodiversity Framework and representing Italy in global policy dialogue on ecosystem protection.
He has promoted environmental education initiatives aimed at younger generations, including the photography contest “MiaFotoBio,” designed to raise awareness among schools in Lombardy about biodiversity and climate change. He has also moderated major scientific and outreach events, such as “Insieme per la biodiversità” at the Oxy.gen multimedia pavilion in Bresso, as part of the Biodiversity Festival.
In public debate, he has emphasized the urgency of restoration and protection measures for forests and mountain areas affected by extreme climate-related events, highlighting the Foundation’s role in promoting reforestation and ecological restoration projects in the Alps and the Dolomites.
He is involved in European projects and international workshops, including AQUARES under Interreg Europe, focused on the sustainable management of water resources and the development of innovative solutions for water protection, representing Lombardy in European environmental sustainability partnerships.
