Palmieri Franco

From 1975 to 1999, he was part of the Teatro dell’Arca theatre company as an actor and director. From 1979 to 1993, he collaborated with Giovanni Testori. Since 1995, he has directed university theatre groups in Bologna, Florence and Milan. In 2000, he was one of the founders of Elsinor. Since 2002, he has been involved in international theatre projects, directing in New York, Madrid, Paris, Bucharest and Malaga, and carrying out training projects in Israel, Armenia, Spain, the United States and many Italian cities. Since 2006, he has been the artistic director of events related to the Divine Comedy in Florence, Milan, Bologna, Forlì, Matera, Ravenna and Treviso. In 2015, for the National Ecclesial Convention, he created a theatrical event at the Santa Croce complex in Florence. The show is based on the three canticles of the Comedy and involves over 500 people as actors. In 2008, he published Atto unico per cinquantaquattro storie (One Act for Fifty-Four Stories) with Benedetta Neri, Marietti, Milan, and in 2013 Incantati dalla Commedia (Enchanted by the Comedy). Since 2009, he has been collaborating with cultural organisations in Romania. In 2019, he collaborated with the Parada Foundation in Bucharest on the production of the show Dragul meu Pinocchio and in 2020 he published Lo spettacolo della Taranta. Viaggio nel Salento (The Taranta Show. Journey to Salento). On 4 July 2021, he staged the travelling show Amor sementa in voi (Love sows in you) at Villa di Castello in Florence, marking the 700th anniversary of the death of the Supreme Poet. Since 2014, he has been touring Italy with various theatrical monologues based on works by Manzoni, Claudel, Eliot, Milosz and Dante, and in 2024 he made his debut with an apartment show based on Marguerite Yourcenar’s Memoirs of Hadrian.
