Nembrini Franco

Franco Nembrini, born in Trescore Balneario (BG) on August 15, 1955, is an Italian teacher, pedagogist, and essayist, recognized for his contributions to education, literature, and cultural dissemination. The fourth of ten siblings, he developed a passion for literature early on and decided at age twelve to dedicate himself to teaching Italian. Despite interruptions in his schooling due to family circumstances, he obtained his teaching diploma at eighteen and graduated in Pedagogy from the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in 1982.
He began his educational career teaching religion and Italian, becoming one of the leaders of Comunione e Liberazione in Bergamo. In 1982, he founded the private middle school “La Traccia” in Calcinate (BG), now an educational hub with approximately one thousand students. From 1999 to 2006, he served as President of the Federazione Opere Educative (FOE), member of the National Council of Catholic Schools, the National Consultation on School Pastoral Work of the Italian Episcopal Conference, and the Ministry of Education’s Commission for School Equality. He continued teaching in the state school system until 2009, maintaining the role of Rector of the “La Traccia” educational center until 2015.
Nembrini is the author of numerous books and essays, including Dante poeta del desiderio and Di padre in figlio, and has delivered lectures in Italy and abroad, including Spain, Portugal, Latin America, and Russia. In 2012, he founded the publishing house Centocanti, producing multimedia works and commentaries on classics such as The Adventures of Pinocchio. From 2015, he collaborated with TV2000 on the television series Nel mezzo del cammin and L’avventura di Pinocchio. In 2018, he published commentaries on the three volumes of Dante’s Divine Comedy with Gabriele Dell’Otto through Mondadori.
In recent years, he has participated in numerous public events and conferences on education and youth formation, including La via di Dante per la felicità in Bologna (November 2024), La vita come compito: il bello dell’educazione in Jerago con Orago (May 2025), and Amore e responsabilità (March 2025), as well as delivering a lecture in Riccione (February 2026) on school, family, and the “human digital.” Since May 31, 2025, TV2000 has broadcast the series Nel Mezzo del Cammin con Franco Nembrini, a guided reading of the Divine Comedy illustrated by Gabriele Dell’Otto.
Since October 2018, he has been a member of the Dicastero per i Laici, la Famiglia e la Vita and, since 2020, an honorary member and consultant of the UCAI (Unione Cattolica Artisti Italiani), consolidating his commitment to promoting culture, literature, and Catholic education.
