Stefano Lucchini

Stefano Lucchini is Chief Institutional Affairs and External Communications Officer at Intesa Sanpaolo, a position he has held since January 2018. A graduate in Economics and Business from LUISS in Rome, he has extensive experience in the fields of institutional relations, communications and international affairs, having held senior roles in leading Italian industrial and financial organisations.

He began his career in 1987 in Montedison’s Research Department. In 1988, he was a Fellow at the Brookings Institution in Washington and a Congressional Assistant on the Energy and Commerce Committee of the US House of Representatives. During the 1990s, he held positions in external relations and communications at Montedison and, from 1997, at Enel, before taking on the role of Head of External Relations at Confindustria.

In 2002, he joined the Banca Intesa Group as Director of External Relations. From 2005 to 2014, he served as Senior Executive Vice President of International Public Affairs and Communication at the Eni Group and as Chairman of Eni USA. In 2014, he returned to Intesa Sanpaolo as Head of International and Regulatory Affairs, a role he held until his appointment to his current position.

Alongside his professional career, Lucchini has been deeply involved in institutional and international affairs. He is President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Italy, a post to which he was re-elected in 2026 and Chairman of Intesa Sanpaolo IMI Securities Corp. in the United States. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of LUISS and the National Italian American Foundation (NIAF), as well as of the International Advisory Council and the Foreign Policy Leadership Council of the Brookings Institution in Washington.

Since 2020, he has been Chairman of Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Italia. He is also involved in various initiatives and organisations dedicated to promoting transatlantic relations, economic culture and social responsibility.

Throughout his career, he has been a key figure in the dialogue between businesses, institutions and the international community, with a particular focus on relations between Italy and the United States and the role of Italian businesses in the global context.

He is a Knight Grand Cross of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic.
