Iannantuoni Giovanna

Giovanna Iannantuoni (Lucera, 9 February 1970) is an Italian economist and university professor. Originally from Daunia, she graduated in Economic and Social Sciences (DES) from Bocconi University (1994 or 1995) and obtained a PhD in Economics from the Université catholique de Louvain in 2001. She held various academic positions abroad between 2001 and 2006, including roles at the University of Rochester, the University of Cambridge and the Carlos III University of Madrid. In 2006, she returned to Italy as an associate professor at the University of Milan-Bicocca, where she became a full professor of Political Economy in 2014. At the University of Milan-Bicocca, she was coordinator of the Doctorate in Economics until 2015 and President of the Doctoral School from 2015 to 2019. Since 2019, she has been Rector of the University of Milan-Bicocca, with a term that began on 11 June 2019 and is scheduled to end on 30 September 2025 (six-year term 2019-2025). Since November 2023, she has been the first woman to chair the Conference of Italian University Rectors (CRUI), of which she has been a member since 2019. Her research interests focus on game theory, political economy and microeconomics, with particular attention to applications in electoral systems. She has published in international journals and coordinated several research projects at national and international level. She received the ‘Ambasciatori di terre di Puglia’ award in 2019. She is the mother of a daughter, Chiara.
