Giorgio Gori

Giorgio Gori, born in Bergamo on March 24, 1960, was elected to the European Parliament in 2024 with the Partito Democratico in the North-West constituency. In the European Parliament, he serves as Vice President of the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE) and is a member of several parliamentary delegations, including those for relations with the Maghreb countries, Albania, and the Union for the Mediterranean.
Born and raised in Bergamo, he attended the classical high school Liceo Classico Paolo Sarpi and graduated in Architecture. He began his professional career as a journalist, collaborating with Radio Bergamo, L’Eco di Bergamo, and Bergamo Oggi. In 1984, he entered the television sector with Rete4; for 17 years, he worked in Fininvest and Mediaset, holding increasingly responsible positions. From 1991 to 2001, he served as director of Canale 5, Italia 1, and again Canale 5.
In 2001, he started his entrepreneurial activity by founding, with Ilaria Dallatana and Francesca Canetta, the production company Magnolia, specializing in the development and production of television and multimedia content. In 2012, he left his entrepreneurial roles to focus on public service, founding the association InNova Bergamo, dedicated to urban planning and social issues in the city.
Elected Mayor of Bergamo in 2014, he was re-elected in 2019 in the first round, becoming the first mayor of the city to be re-elected since the introduction of direct elections. He served in office until June 11, 2024.
