El Feki Mostafa

Dr. Mostafa el Feki has a long history of achievements in both the political and cultural fields. Academically, he has served as a Professor of Political Science at the American University in Cairo for a long time then he took the role of the president of the British University in Egypt during the first three years of its foundation. In the political field, he was the Ambassador of Egypt to Austria among other foreign countries. He was also the Governor of Egypt at the IAEA and Permanent Representative of Egypt to the League of Arab States.
Dr. el Feki participated in the political life during the last forty years. However, his political activities during the past few years took a direction towards the parliamentary work and its international conferences. He has served as the Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Egyptian People’s Assembly for ten years.
Dr. el Feki dedicated his life to two causes: the first is the political and intellectual reform, and to put an end to all kinds of discrimination against the minorities in the society; and the second is related to the Arab cause and the modern frame in which the Arab unity should be held. Dr. el Feki holds the view that in order to change the situation in which the Arabs are nowadays, they should build economic and cultural bases creating the understanding of the Arab solidarity and not only through slogans and emotions. His researches, studies and articles were concerned only with these two causes.
This thought was behind the publication of his book Revival of Arab Nationalist Thought published at the beginning of the nineties, followed by his other book The Absent Vision.
As for his executive posts, Dr. el Feki filled distinguished positions such as the Secretary of Information to the President of the Republic of Egypt, Director of the Institute for Diplomatic Studies of the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and First Assistant Foreign Minister.
Additionally, Dr. el Feki is a Professor and Lecturer in several Egyptian and Foreign Universities and specialized Research Centers. Moreover, he supervised and examined several theses for advanced educational degrees.
Dr. el Feki has been the Chairman of the Egyptian-Austrian Friendship Association for the last ten years. He continues his Intellectual and Cultural activities inside and outside Egypt. He is a member of the National Council of Human Rights, the Writer’s Union, L’Institut d’Egypte founded in 1798, the Supreme Council for Culture and many other Forums and Committees.
He was honored by Egyptian government with several medals and was granted Mubark’s Prize in Social Science in 2010, the State Merit Prize in Social Science in 2003 and the State Incentive Prize in Political Science in 1993, as well as tens of medals and awards from different foreign and Arab countries.
He wrote over twenty books in political, intellectual and cultural fields. He is a weekly writer at the Egyptian Al–Ahram newspaper and Al-Hayat newspaper and has a third weekly article in Al-Masry Al-Youm newspaper. He is a writer, as well, in other newspapers and periodicals.
