Buka Teuta

I was born in Shkodra, May 9, 1972 in a poor family, persecuted by the communist regime. In 1991, right after the fall of communism, I got to know the Salesian charism and had the courage to answer to God’s call and become a Salesian Sister (of Don Bosco) and devote my life entirely to the education of the youth in 1996.

In 2000 I majored in Italian Language from the Faculty of Foreign Languages at Tirana University. In 2002 I majored in Salesian Spirituality at Auxilium University, in Rome. I have had many opportunities to strengthen my preparation in the Spirituality area and Pedagogy and Educational Management. In 2012 I followed the School of Leadership in Education near CDE, Tiranë. In 2017 I got a diploma on Educational Leadership from Arrupe Center, Warsaw. In  2020 I have got the certificate from Principals School as a complementary experience in fulfilling my mission. On April 2022 I have fulfil my formation as evaluator for the pre-universitary school system organized form ASCAP  ( Government Agency for the Quality of pre- universitary system  in collaboration with AADF (Albanian American Development Foundation).

My experience in education starts in 1992 as animator for the children’s groups and the youth, in Albanian and in Italy. This experience goes beyond the school experience and teaching, because my mission has always given me the opportunity to be the organizer of events, reflecting moments and retreat, formation and entertainment for different age groups varying from children, youth, teachers and principals of the Catholic Education Network.

Since 2004 I have had a series of responsibilities:
2004-2013 Didactic Headmaster of Maria High-school and  the Oratorio in Shkodra, Albania
2013 – on going.Director of the Maria Mazzarello Center, Tiranë, Albania
Since 2010 I am the National Coordinator of the National Commission on Catholic Education.

As national Coordinator of Catholic Education in Albania, I am the representative of  our network of schools with the Ministry of education and other institutions in Albania  and the representative of Albania in the OIEC (International Organization of Catholic Education) and CEEC (European commission for Catholic Education). Taking part regularly in General Assembly, Congress and Symposium organized from them, has  gave me the opportunity to be more informed concerning  Catholic education, the challenges and the goodness to think, to share and to work together with friends that have the same passion for the education.

Apart this opportunities the thing that I consider as very valuable in my life is the daily contact with the children and the youngsters of different age and my colleges. This has been by far the best school.
