Bucci Marco

Marco Bucci born in Genoa, October 31, 1959 is an Italian politician and business executive, currently serving as Mayor of Genoa and Metropolitan Mayor of the namesake metropolitan city since June 27, 2017.
Biography
Born and raised in Genoa, Bucci attended the Andrea D’Oria Classical High School and later earned degrees in Pharmacy and Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technologies from the University of Genoa.
His professional career began in the chemical sector with 3M, later continuing with Kodak and Carestream Health, where he held executive positions and managed the global expansion of the brands.
In 2015, Bucci became Chief Executive Officer of Liguria Digitale.
Mayor of Genoa
First Term
In 2017, Bucci was elected Mayor of Genoa leading a center-right coalition, defeating the center-left candidate in the runoff with 55.24% of the votes. Among his first measures, he initiated the process to unblock compensation payments to the victims of the 2011 flood. On October 4, 2018, the government appointed him Extraordinary Commissioner for the reconstruction of the Morandi Bridge, a project completed with the inauguration of the new viaduct in 2020.
Second Term
Re-elected in 2022 with 55.49% of the votes, Bucci continued to lead the city and was confirmed as President of ANCI Liguria. In September 2023, he was appointed Commissioner for the construction of the new outer breakwater of Genoa.
2024 Regional Elections
On September 11, 2024, despite health concerns, Bucci accepted the candidacy for the regional elections held on October 27–28, supported by Forza Italia, Lega, Fratelli d’Italia, and other allies.
On October 28, 2024, with the full backing of the center-right coalition, he was elected President of Liguria. He has been serving as President of the Liguria Region since 2024.
