Bertuzzi Stefano

Stefano Bertuzzi joined the American Society for Microbiology (ASM) as CEO on January 4, 2016. Prior to that, he served as Executive Director of the American Society for Cell Biology (ASCB) for three years. Before his tenure at ASCB, Bertuzzi was a senior scientific executive at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), where he served as Director of the Office of Science Policy, Planning, and Communications at the National Institute of Mental Health, and as Science Policy Advisor to the NIH Director, Dr. Elias Zerhouni.Bertuzzi earned his Ph.D. in Molecular Biotechnology from the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan, supported by a fellowship at the Institute of Microbiology, and received his Master of Public Health (MPH) from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore, with a focus on health policy.
