Set in Tokyo, the film follows an actor employed by a “rental family” agency, called upon to play affective roles in other people’s lives. Over time, what begins as professional fiction starts to crack: the bonds, particularly the one with a young girl, begin to exceed the boundaries of work, opening an unexpected space of human involvement and calling into question identity and emotional distance.
