Who we are
CARLO ACUTIS
An Extraordinary Simplicity
Exhibition promoted by the “Associazione Amici Carlo Acutis”
Curated by Antonia Salzano Acutis and Giovanni Emidio Palaia
In collaboration with university students
The aim of the exhibition is to get to know Carlo, who died in 2006 at the age of 15 from a sudden form of leukemia. A collection of facts tells the story of a boy of our time: full of life and interests, passionate about computers, with a full heart and a life program—“to always be united with Jesus.”
His short life could be summed up as the extraordinary within the ordinary.
Above all, since Carlo left this world, testimonies and stories from all over the globe have not stopped arriving, and they all share a common thread: for those who encounter him, Carlo continues to be alive beyond the boundary of life.
Followed by millions of young people, he has surpassed even the biggest influencers. His fame, not generated by men, has spread across the world in an unimaginable way. Why?
There are two words that keep coming up in the stories of those who knew him: balance—all the simple aspects of his daily life converge in one point; and intensity—all his interests walk together and are full of life.
Carlo lived intensely, and it is the power of this normality that the Church, by declaring him a saint, wishes to place before everyone’s eyes.
