One October night, Davide Simone Cavallo is stabbed for a few dozen euros and loses the ability to use his legs at twenty-two years old. One March morning, Professor Chiara Mocchi is struck in the hallways of her school by a thirteen-year-old student. Both, through pain, have chosen not to hate. “It weighs on my heart every day that they will spend in prison. Kids angry with the world who did not know what they were doing and to whom I would gladly have extended a hand,” writes Davide. “You should know that I carry neither anger nor fear in my heart… this wound must not become a wall, but a bridge,” Chiara wrote. From two wounds and two dramas that seemed beyond redemption, an unforeseen fact bursts forth, a greater event: forgiveness, which passes through evil and makes free.
