Who we are
THE SONG OF SONGS
Davide Brullo, writer, poet and translator; H.E. Cardinal José Tolentino de Mendonça, poet, biblical scholar, prefect of the Dicastery for Culture and Education. Readings by actor Giampiero Bartolini. Introduced by Annalisa Teggi, writer and translator
The Song of Songs is a poem in which love is sought, awaited, sung through the body, the voice, desire, the joy of encounter and the wound of absence. Desire, attraction, ardor are the substance of a deep fidelity, of a relationship that does not consume the other but calls them, seeks them, guards them. Love passes through the flesh, but is not exhausted by it; it opens to a greater promise and lets us glimpse the mystery of God.
