THE SPECTACULAR PROCESS OF STAR AND PLANET FORMATION CLOSE TO HIGH-MASS STARS

Stefano Facchini, Professor of Physics and Astronomy, Università degli Studi di Milano; Carlo Felice Manara, astronomer, European Southern Observatory (ESO), Garching. Modera: Massimo Robberto, astrophysicist, Space Telescope Science Institute

The Sun, as well as all stars and planets, are born in regions where dust and gas accumulates. Among these star-forming regions, the most interesting and spectacular are those where high-mass stars are present. These stars greatly impact the formation of stars and planets. By showing spectacular recent data from space- and ground-based telescopes, we will show how we are deciphering this process.
