Francesco Acquaroli

Francesco Acquaroli, born in Macerata on 25 September 1974, has served as President of the Regione Marche since 30 September 2020. He was re-elected in 2025 with approximately 52% of the vote, defeating centre-left candidate Matteo Ricci. He holds a degree in Economics and Business Administration and works as a financial consultant.
He began his political career in the Movimento Sociale Italiano, later joining Alleanza Nazionale following the Fiuggi turning point. Over the years, he has held numerous elected offices at local and regional level: municipal councillor and mayor of Potenza Picena, regional councillor of Marche from 2010 to 2014 and Vice President of the Region, as well as holding key roles within the regional majority. He also served as a Member of the Italian Chamber of Deputies and was a candidate in the 2019 European Parliament elections in the Central Italy constituency.
His political commitment has consistently been characterized by close attention to the territory, the promotion of local excellence, and the protection of the environment and of the cultural, productive, and landscape heritage of the Marche Region. As President, he promotes policies focused on sustainable development, the enhancement of regional distinctiveness, and responsiveness to the needs of local communities.
