Bruno Vespa

Bruno Vespa (L’Aquila, 1944) is a journalist, author and television presenter.

He began writing at the age of sixteen and joined Rai in 1968, coming first in the competition for radio and television reporters. A law graduate with a thesis on the right to report the news, he has covered over sixty years of Italian history, reporting – as a correspondent and reporter – on the country’s major political and social events and major international happenings.

From 1990 to 1993, he was director of Tg1. In 1996, he conceived and began presenting Porta a porta, a news and current affairs programme on Rai 1, which has since become a benchmark for public debate in Italy. From politics to current affairs, from the economy to major international events, Vespa has interviewed generations of public figures and chronicled the country’s transformations. He is the author of numerous books on history, politics and the leading figures of contemporary Italy. His most recent publications include Kennedy, Donne al potere, Quirinale and La grande tempesta.
