Uva Michele

General Secretary of the FIGC and Vice-President of UEFA.
He has been General Secretary of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) since 16 September 2014. In 2017, he was appointed Vice-President of UEFA, Chairman of the Club Licensing Committee, Chairman of the National Teams Competitions Committee, and a member of the Finance Committee and UEFA Club Competitions SA. He also lectures at the Università del Foro Italico in Rome.

He began his professional career in volleyball in 1985. Over the following ten years, the clubs he worked for won 13 titles at national and European level.

In 1996, at the age of 31, he served as President of the Women’s Volleyball League. In football, from 1996 to 2001, he held the role of General Manager at Parma Calcio (during which time Parma won an Italian Cup, a Super Cup and a UEFA Cup) and from June 2001 to December 2002 he was Vice-President and General Manager at Lazio.

From 2003 to 2006, he worked for one of the world’s leading sports consultancy firms, the German company Sport+Markt AG, and also gained experience in the USA as a strategic advisor to the New York Metrostars football club. In basketball, from 2006 to 2008, he was General Manager of Lottomatica Virtus Roma, a top-flight Serie A club competing in the EuroLeague.

From 2009 to 2013, he worked for the Italian Football Federation (FIGC). After serving as project leader for Italy’s bid for UEFA Euro 2016, he held the role of Director of the Centre for Studies, Development and Special Initiatives, managing nine areas focused on the Federation’s national and international development. From 15 May 2013 to 15 September 2014, he held the position of General Manager of CONI Servizi SpA, a company wholly owned by the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
