Who we are
Salvatore Taormina

Born in 1962, he holds a degree in Law and has been a senior official with the Sicilian Regional Government since 1989; he is currently Director-General of the Department of Local Self-Government within the same regional administration.
Throughout his career, he has gained significant experience in the non-profit and welfare sectors, areas with which he was also involved whilst working for the Lombardy Regional Government. He was a member of the Study Commission on IPABs established in 2000 by the Minister for Social Affairs and a member of the National Observatory on Associations. He collaborates with the Foundation for Subsidiarity, where he coordinates the Department of Institutions and Public Administration.
Between 2007 and 2009, he held the post of Secretary-General to the President of the Sicilian Regional Government. He also served as Chief of Staff to the Regional President and as Director-General of the regional departments for Family and Social Policies, Education and Vocational Training, and Finance and Credit.
He has lectured on a contract basis at the Faculty of Law of the University of Palermo on the topics of institutional competences and regional specialisation. He was a member of the Cultural Editorial Board of the Meeting Foundation for Friendship amongst Peoples ETS.
