Sister M. Serena, MC, was born in Milan in 1947 into a practicing Catholic family, the second of two children.
After graduating with a degree in Modern Literature, she taught for several years in middle schools. After a brief experience as a lay missionary in Africa, she entered the Congregation of the Missionaries of Charity, in London, in June of 1978, and professed her vows in Rome in May of 1981.
She was then assigned to diverse missions in Spain, Italy, Mongolia, Calcutta, with the position of Regional Superior in Russia and in Venezuela.
In December of last year, Sr. Serena returned to Italy.
