Spina Lorenzo

Lorenzo Spina is an astrophysicist and researcher at the National Institute for Astrophysics – Astronomical Observatory of Padua.

He earned his PhD in 2014 from the University of Florence and subsequently worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of São Paulo (Brazil) and Monash University (Australia).

Expert in spectroscopy, he studies the chemical composition of stars to understand the evolution of our galaxy and the profound connection between stars and their planetary systems.His research focuses, among other things, on identifying stars that have swallowed planets and using stellar data to infer the composition and geology of exoplanets.

Active in the application of advanced data analysis methodologies, he teaches a course on machine learning techniques applied to astrophysics at the PhD School of Astrophysics of the University of Padua.
