Simi Maria Acqua

Maria Acqua Simi (Cremona, 1985) is a professional journalist, graduated in Political Science and International Relations from the Catholic University of Milan, with a thesis on the democratic process in Lebanon written from Beirut. This sparked her passion for the Middle East, which she has explored extensively for journalistic reporting. She began her professional career in Milan, working for Libero and later as a press officer for the AVSI Foundation. From 2011 to 2018, she worked in the foreign affairs section of Giornale del Popolo. In 2015, she received an award from the Swiss Association of Catholic Journalists for a report she wrote as a correspondent in Iraq in October 2014. Until 2023, she was an editor for the online portal Il Federalista.ch. She loves Guareschi and the mountains, is married to Andrea, and together they have two children — another beautiful story. She currently works for the magazine Tracce.
