Emmanuele Silanos

Emmanuele Silanos, originally from Busto Arsizio (Varese), is a priest of the Priestly Fraternity of the Missionaries of St. Charles Borromeo. After graduating from classical high school, he earned a degree in Economics and Business from the Catholic University of Milan. His religious journey officially began in 1998 when he entered the Fraternity’s seminary in Rome, culminating in his priestly ordination in 2004. During his formative years in Rome, Silanos obtained a Licentiate in Christology and served as the personal secretary to the Superior General at the time, Monsignor Massimo Camisasca.

His pastoral work took him to Taiwan as a missionary for approximately six years, from 2007 to 2013. In Taiwan, he balanced parochial duties—leading the Church of St. Francis Xavier in Taishan (on the outskirts of Taipei)—with academic work, teaching Italian at Fu Jen Catholic University. Following his missionary period, in February 2013, he was appointed Vicar General of the St. Charles Fraternity, a role that brought him back to Rome to collaborate with the Superior General, Fr. Paolo Sottopietra.

Beyond his institutional roles, Silanos is an active speaker and author. He has participated in numerous editions of the Rimini Meeting, an event he has attended since high school, where he also served as a volunteer. Within the event, he co-curated the exhibition “Franz and Franziska,” dedicated to the Jägerstätter couple. Throughout his career, he has spoken at conferences organized by the De Gasperi Association, regional meetings of “Famiglie per l’Accoglienza” (Families for Hospitality), and educational conferences promoted by the “Il Rischio Educativo” Association at the Catholic University. He also contributed an extensive reflection to the volume “Il bene che permane” (The Good That Remains), published by Itaca, and periodically writes articles and meditations for his Fraternity.
