Scurria Marco

Marco Scurria, born in Rome on 18 May 1967, is an Italian politician and professional consultant, with a degree in Political Science from the University of Rome “La Sapienza”.
He began his political career by joining the Italian Social Movement (MSI) in 1994. Under his leadership, in 1995, right-wing lists won student elections in Roman universities for the first time since 1968. Until 1996, he served as a national leader of the Youth Front (MSI), later becoming national vice president of Azione Giovani in 2000. He was also a member of the National Assembly of Alleanza Nazionale.
In 2009, Scurria was elected Member of the European Parliament with The People of Freedom (PdL). During his term at the European Parliament, he served on the Committee on Regional Development, the Delegation for relations with the Mashreq countries (including Israel) and Iran, and was a member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean. In 2012, he joined Brothers of Italy (FdI).
He is currently a Senator of the Italian Republic for the 19th Legislature, elected in September 2022. In the Senate, he has served as Secretary of the 4th Standing Committee (European Union Policies) since November 2022, and since 8 May 2024 he has been Vice President of the Brothers of Italy parliamentary group. He has also been a member of the Italian parliamentary delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe since early 2023, as well as of the Special Commission on combating intolerance, racism, antisemitism, and incitement to hatred and violence. Since April 2023, he has chaired the Italy–Azerbaijan Parliamentary Union Friendship Group and, since May 2023, he has been President of the Transatlantic Friends of Israel (TFI). His interests include international affairs, European Union policies, and energy-related issues, having promoted dialogue on the repression suffered by Iranian women. He is Deputy Group Leader of Fratelli d’Italia in the Senate. In 2026 sources, this title is publicly used; in the Meeting profile from August 2025, he was already listed as vice president of the group, so this is more of an alignment/formalization than a radical change.
