Orazio Schillaci

Orazio Schillaci, born in Rome on 27 April 1966, is a physician and university professor, currently serving as Minister of Health in the government led by Hon. Giorgia Meloni, sworn in by the President of the Republic on 22 October 2022.
He earned his degree in Medicine and Surgery at Università La Sapienza in 1990 and specialized in Nuclear Medicine in 1994. Since 2001, he has been Director of the Complex Operational Unit of Nuclear Medicine at the Policlinico Tor Vergata. Since 2007, he has been Full Professor of Nuclear Medicine in the Medicine and Medical Radiology Techniques (TRM) degree programs at the Università degli Studi di Roma Tor Vergata, where he has also served as Rector since 2019.
He has conducted research and teaching activities in Italy and abroad, authored over 350 peer-reviewed scientific publications, and served as President of the Associazione Italiana Medici di Medicina Nucleare (AIMN).
He has participated in health commissions at the Lazio Region and Ministry of Health, as well as in national and international research projects, including Horizon 2020. Since 2020, he has been a member of the Scientific Committee of the Istituto Superiore di Sanità, contributing to the development of clinical research and public health.
