Sacco Pier Luigi

Pier Luigi Sacco is an economist and a prominent figure in the field of culture, specializing in cultural economics, territorial development, creative industries, and cultural policies.

He is currently Full Professor of Cultural Economics at IULM University in Milan, where he also holds the Rector’s delegation for innovation and international relations and coordinates the Master’s program in Art, Heritage, and Markets. He also serves as a Senior Advisor for the OECD Center for Entrepreneurship, SMEs, Regions, and Cities, and as a Senior Researcher at metaLAB (at) Harvard at Harvard University. Previously, he was Professor of Economic Policy at the University of Chieti-Pescara.

Sacco has played a significant role as Special Adviser to the European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Youth, and Sport, and was Interim Director of AP10 at the EIT-KIC Culture & Creativity. He has made substantial contributions to the study and theorization of the concept of the “evolved cultural district.”

His extensive academic output includes over 250 essays published in international journals and peer-reviewed books. He regularly provides international consultancy for public administrations, institutions, and private companies, focusing on culture-based development. He is frequently invited as a keynote speaker at major international conferences on cultural policy and cultural economics.

Pier Luigi Sacco is also the founder of the Cultural Welfare Center (CCW), an organization dedicated to promoting culture as a resource for well-being and health. He is a member of key scientific boards, including the Europeana Foundation and the Fondazione Scuola dei Beni e delle Attività Culturali. He contributes to newspapers and magazines such as *Il Sole 24 Ore*, *Flash Art*, and *Corriere Innovazione*.
