Mariachiara Rossetti

Mariachiara Rossetti is a Senior Researcher at the National Institute for Astrophysics (INAF – IASF Milan).

She holds a Master’s degree in Physics and a PhD in Physics, Astrophysics, and Applied Physics from the University of Milan. Her research focuses on the formation and evolution of galaxy clusters, the largest bound structures in the Universe. She investigates their physical properties to leverage them as powerful cosmological probes for understanding the cosmos.

Her work seamlessly integrates multi-wavelength astronomical data, spanning from radio frequencies to X-rays. On the international stage, she is actively involved in developing future space missions, contributing directly to the science program of NewAthena, the European Space Agency’s next-generation X-ray space telescope.
