Ferruccio Resta

Ferruccio Resta has been Rector of the Politecnico di Milano since 2017, where he has spent most of his academic career.

After graduating in Mechanical Engineering in 1992 and obtaining his PhD in Applied Mechanics in 1996, he became a tenured researcher in 1999, an associate professor in 2001 and a full professor of Applied Mechanics to Machines in 2004.mHe served as Head of the Department of Mechanics (2007–2016) and the Rector’s Delegate for Technology Transfer (2011–2016).

He is currently a member of the Boards of Directors of the Silvio Tronchetti Provera Foundation and the Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo, of the Coordination Committee of Human Technopole, the Steering Committee of the BEIC Foundation, the Executive Board of SIAM – Society for the Promotion of Arts and Crafts, the Supervisory Committee of CEN – European Centre for Nanomedicine, and the Supervisory Committee of the Fondazione Collegio delle Università Milanesi.

He has published over 240 scientific articles and holds 7 international patents.
