Francesco Rampini

Francesco Rampini, born in Mestre on 26 March 1967, began working in 1999 at the EIE Group, an engineering firm based in Mestre specialising in the design, manufacture, construction and testing of large-scale instruments for the fields of astronomy, astrophysics and large-scale science, following his studies in civil engineering at the University of Padua. He was Head of the Computing Division. In 2009, he became Head of the Engineering and Design Department.

• 2002–2003: VST Project (VLT Survey Telescope)
• 2004–2015: VISTA Project: team project lead
• 1999–2013: ALMA Project (Atacama Large Millimetre Array)
• 2007–2008: Antenna Normandie for Ariane tracking.
• 1999–2013: ALMA Project (Atacama Large Millimetre Array)
• 2012–2015: SKA Dish Array (Square Kilometre Array)
• 2008–2018: MRO Dome (Magdalena Ridge Observatory)
• 2013–2018: LSST project (Large Synoptic Survey Telescope)
• 2013–2018: CTA-Astri telescope (Cherenkov Telescope Array)
• 2015–2018: DAG project (Turkish 4-metre Telescope)
• 2007–2018: ELT Project (Extremely Large Telescope)

A lifelong supporter of the Mestre basketball team, he is now its proud vice-president.
