Who we are
Procopio Sergio
Sergio Procopio embarked on his extraordinary journey into the world of clowning back in 1975, when, at the age of eleven, he walked through the doors of the Salesian boarding school in Arese. In this environment, he had the incredible opportunity to meet two masters of life and theatre, Don Vittorio Chiari and Bano Ferrari, figures who shaped his destiny and inspired his passion for the stage.
Bano Ferrari, a renowned professional clown, guided Sergio and the other boys at the boarding school, encouraging them to develop their skills in a genuine spirit of sharing. In 1977, together with Bano, Don Vittorio and other talented teachers and boarding school boys, Sergio helped found the prestigious theatre company ‘i Barabba’s Clowns’. During his twelve years with the company, Sergio took his talents to over 1800 theatre performances throughout Italy and numerous international festivals, culminating with a memorable performance in the Vatican in 1989 in front of John Paul II.
In 1990, undertaking a fruitful collaboration with theatre director Carlo Rossi, Sergio began his career as a full-time professional clown.
