Pina Picierno

Pina Picierno, born in Santa Maria Capua Vetere on 10 May 1981, has been Vice President of the European Parliament since 18 January 2022, reconfirmed in 2024, a role she continues to hold.
Raised in Teano, she graduated in Communication Sciences in Salerno. After engaging in student politics and volunteering, in March 2003 she was elected National President of the Youth of La Margherita. In 2008, she coordinated the Young Volunteers for the Partito Democratico electoral campaign and was elected to the Chamber of Deputies as top candidate in Campania 2.
She served as Shadow Minister for Youth Policies and, from February 2009, as the PD’s National Head of Legality. In the Chamber, she was a member of the VII Committee (Culture and Education) and later of the II Committee (Justice). From 11 October 2013, she was part of the Parliamentary Anti-Mafia Commission.
On 26 May 2014, she was elected to the European Parliament for the Southern Italy constituency. She has participated in the Committees on Women’s Rights and Gender Equality (FEMM), Budgets (BUDG), and Internal Market and Consumer Protection (IMCO). Re-elected in 2019, she also served on the Committees on Agriculture (AGRI), Culture (CULT), and as a full member of FEMM.
Reconfirmed as Vice President of the European Parliament in 2024, she continues to serve on the FEMM, BUDG, IMCO, AGRI, and CULT committees, focusing on cross-cutting European issues of gender, budget, market, and culture. She has participated in European initiatives on women’s rights, gender equality, sustainable development, and agricultural policies, strengthening the representation of Southern Italy at the European level.
Within the institutional context, she continues to promote international cooperation projects and the enhancement of Italian regional excellence, particularly in innovation, culture, and economic development.
