Picierno Pina

Pina Picierno was born on May 10, 1981, in Santa Maria Capua Vetere, in the province of Caserta, Italy. She lived in Teano until her university years and then moved to Salerno, where she graduated in Communication Sciences.

In March 2003, after years of involvement in student politics, volunteering, and local activism, she was elected National President of the Youth of the Margherita party. In March 2008, she coordinated the work of the Young Volunteers for the electoral campaign of the Democratic Party (PD). In May 2008, she was elected to the Chamber of Deputies as the top candidate in Campania 2 for the Democratic Party.

She served as the Shadow Minister for Youth Policies and, from February 2009, as the Head of the Legality sector for the PD. These important positions allowed her to tackle the issues of our country and explore possible solutions.

In Parliament, she was a member of the VII Committee of the Chamber (Culture and Education). Since July 2010, she has been a member of the II Committee of the Chamber (Justice). She works to free her land definitively from organized crime and finally enhance its resources and best talents.

This transformation also involves a Democratic Party that meets the challenge and is above suspicion, rooted in the territory, and close to the citizens. From October 11, 2013, she was a member of the Parliamentary Antimafia Commission.

On May 26, 2014, she was elected as a Member of the European Parliament for the Southern Italy constituency. She is a member of the parliamentary committees on Women’s Rights and Gender Equality (FEMM), Budgets (BUDG), and Internal Market and Consumer Protection (IMCO).

She was reelected in May 2019 and now serves on the Agriculture (AGRI) and Culture (CULT) committees. She continues to be a full member of the Women’s Rights and Gender Equality committee (FEMM).

She was elected Vice-president of European Parlament on January 18 2022.
