Who we are
Pichetto Fratin Gilberto

Minister of the Environment and Energy Security.
Gilberto Pichetto Fratin graduated in Economics and Commerce from the University of Turin. A certified public accountant and professor of Accounting, he has always worked professionally as a business consultant in corporate and tax matters for companies and professionals. He has held public offices in municipal and regional administrations before and after being elected to the Italian Senate with the Popolo della Libertà and Forza Italia during the XVI Legislature (2008–2013) and the XVII Legislature.
He served as Secretary of the V Standing Committee on Economic Planning and Budget, from 2010 as Leader of the Popolo della Libertà group, and as a member of the XI Standing Committee on Labor, Social Security, and the Parliamentary Inquiry Committee on workplace accidents. In the previous legislature, he served as Group Leader in the Budget Committee of the Senate, and in the Draghi government, he was appointed Deputy Minister of Economic Development.
During his mandate, based on the responsibilities delegated by Minister Giorgetti, Deputy Minister Pichetto has focused on issues particularly related to the automotive sector, trade, and industrial policies. Thematic working groups were established to address various sectors and maintain active, constructive dialogue with all relevant stakeholders. He is also working to define an industrial policy strategy to identify the necessary measures to relaunch the country and the Piedmont region, leveraging the area’s scientific expertise, infrastructure, and professional skills—from universities to businesses and workers.
He has also worked diligently to ensure that Parliament approved, under the “Sostegni bis” measure, the establishment of the Italian Research Center for Automotive and Aerospace. The center, based in Turin, aims to create infrastructure using artificial intelligence methods to increase technology transfer and promote integration between the automotive and aerospace supply chains, a strategic step to drive innovation in Italy. This represents a concrete commitment to facilitate and stimulate the competitiveness of Italian companies, accelerate recovery, and foster the creation of new jobs.
In the XIX Legislature, he was elected to the Chamber of Deputies in the Piemonte 02 multi-member constituency. In the current Meloni government, he was appointed Minister of the Environment and Energy Security.
