Angelo Picariello

Angelo Picariello, born in Avellino, lives in Rome with his wife and two children. He holds a degree in Law and began his journalistic career in local broadcasting, covering events related to the aftermath of the Irpinia earthquake. At a young age, he was twice elected City Councillor in Avellino and also served as Councillor for Youth Policies.
He has collaborated with national and international outlets such as Il Giornale del Popolo, La Discussione, and Sat 2000. Since 2000, he has been Deputy Editor at the Rome editorial office of Avvenire, where he writes on politics and current affairs, focusing on issues such as terrorism, social reconciliation, and political historiography, with particular attention to the memory of the “Years of Lead” and the promotion of civil dialogue.
Author of several essays and biographies, he has published, among others, Capuozzo, accontenta questo ragazzo (Edizioni San Paolo), a biography of Giovanni Palatucci, Chief of Police of Fiume who died in Dachau after saving thousands of Jews, and in 2025 Liberiamo Moro dal caso Moro. L’eredità di un grande statista (San Paolo Edizioni), in which he retraces the life and political legacy of Aldo Moro, highlighting his human and institutional legacy in Italian history.
